Something about me

My name is Aurel Kurtula. I'm a web designer living in Manchester, UK. I love creating cool and creative websites.

My interest in web design, and design in general was sparked at the last term of the last year of college where I was undertaking Media Studies.

A substitute teacher, instead of teaching us what he was supposed to, he gave us an introduction into how to use Photoshop and how it would be useful in our line of work (print advertising).

To this day I can't believe how fascinating I found that crash course. As a consequence, with the help of the substitute teacher and of the Almighty internet, I concluded that web design and development might be the thing for me.

Right after that I went to university to study Multimedia and Internet Technology. To me the course was a great, comprehensive introduction to the principles of design and programming languages such PHP and ASP.NET to name a few. The course also had subjects on business, project management, multimedia and marketing, which not only are they useful in becoming a professional web designer, but also meant that my three years of Media Studies weren't all for nothing.

Since Graduation in June 2011, after hanging my shiny diploma on the wall I have been working on improving the skills I had gained, learning new ones and keeping up with the web (as you do!). Everything I learn I try to put into practical use, whether in professional or personal projects, I always try and produce work that not only look good but also is accessible and useful.

Even though I see web design as a life style and not just a job. There is a bit more to be said about me.

Well that's all I have to say about myself. Now you can continue browsing my portfolio and do not hesitate to contact me if you think I can be of service to you.

Hello, my name is Aurel Kurtula. I am a web designer and Developer based in Manchester, UK.

For designers, it’s easy to jump right into the design phase of a website before giving the user experience the consideration it deserves. Too often, we prematurely turn our focus to page design and information architecture, when we should focus on the user flows that need to be supported by our designs. It’s time to make the user flows a bigger priority in our design process.
